Smartblinds' smart window coverings connect directly to Amazon's smart home platform. With its smart assistant 'Amazon Alexa', Amazon has been making waves for years. Alexa is the best-known smart home assistant alongside Siri. Amazon Alexa has its own smart home app, which can be downloaded from both the App Store and Play Store. So logically, that also means Alexa supports many different smart home devices, both supported by iOS and Android. In this article, you will read how to turn Smartblinds into Amazon roller blinds with the Eve Motionblinds Matter motor.
Smartblinds and Amazon Alexa
So Smartblinds you can connect directly to the smart home platform Amazon Alexa. To do this, though, there are a few requirements you need to meet. First of all, you need the right motor for this. Smartblinds has 2 motor variants (Motionblinds Bluetooth & Eve Motionblinds Matter). Of these, you can pair the 2nd option, the Eve Motionblinds Matter motor directly with Amazon. All you need is an Amazon smart hub. This smart hub acts as the central point in your Amazon smart home, from where you can control your Smartblinds, for example, at times when you are not at home.

To control your Smartblinds via the Amazon smart home and with its smart assistant Alexa, you need an Amazon smart hub, as mentioned above. This smart hub must be able to act as a Thread border router. That is, this hub creates a Thread network on which your Smartblinds can communicate with each other without connecting to Wi-Fi. Connecting Smartblinds to Amazon Alexa's smart home app is very easy. Because Smartblinds' Eve Motionblinds Matter motors are equipped with the new Matter protocol, it is possible to connect directly between your Smartblinds and the Amazon Alexa app using any of the smart hubs above. In Alexa's app, click the plus sign to add a device, scan the QR code at the end of your Smartblinds cord and follow the steps in the app. Linking smart window blinds to Amazon has never been easier. Amazon Alexa has a clear app where you can easily add your Smartblinds. Once you have your blinds in the Alexa app, you can control them with your smartphone or voice. It's also possible to add your Smartblinds to scenes in your smart home. For example, set it so that when your smart thermostat measures a temperature of 23 degrees or higher in the house, your blinds close automatically and your smart air conditioner turns on automatically.
